It's Been a While

I haven't posted in a while. I wrote a post on the topic of "understanding," but foolishly I'd written it directly here in Blogger, rather than in a text document to copy and paste here for publication. I know better, but of course the one time I fall into this error, it bites me in the ass. After about 8 hours of work, I hit "publish" only to have Blogger crap out on me and wipe the post and all its contents. It could not be recovered.  Needless to say, I felt temporarily disinclined to write, and am still unsure whether I will ever attempt rewriting that post.

In the interim, there was a period of several months where I simply didn't feel like I had anything I needed to write here, so I didn't. Family, study and other responsibilities happily stepped in to fill the void.

Things have gone quiet as far as local church leadership and "discipline" goes, I don't know what to make of it and don't really care enough to dwell on it, but there's the update on that front.

I now have a series of posts I'm working on, probably to be named "Zionomics" or something like that, looking at myths and truths concerning Zion's economy. It's really such a simple thing, yet has been bogged down with a bunch of contortions and mental gymnastics in efforts to skew it to (or against) people's various biases. I want to address some of the most prevalent myths, and see what the scriptures actually try to illustrate for us. I'd also recommend Hugh Nibley's book Approaching Zion for more (and smarter) discussion of the topic than I am providing. You can read the book free online at BYU's site here.

I also have another post that came up this past morning, dealing with deceiving spirits, which may get finished sooner than the Zionomics stuff as it will be a single post. We'll see.

In the meantime, I have been chided for not putting this up sooner, so here is a link to an interview I did for latterdaywitnesses.com.  I would recommend listening to the other interviews on that site as well, they are inspiring and interesting above my own. I'm not really an ideal interviewee, and some of the others are great.

I also want to point more attention over to bornofwater.org. For any who are seeking to be baptized or rebaptized in accordance with the doctrine of Christ, you can reach out there to find someone authorized by Christ to perform baptism, and arrange to receive or renew this ordinance. Any who accept the doctrine of Christ are invited to receive the ordinance from His servants.
